A 11-929                    William Tuller – Fort Orange, Albany, NY

William is 10 generations back from Grandma Ila Mae Schoonover-Green.

Teller, Willem (1616 - 1701 will made on March 19, 1698), son of Romanus - a Dutch clergyman, emigrated in 1638 in the service of the Dutch West India Company and was at Fort Orange (Albany). Married first to Margaret Duncasson [Dedehasen?] in New Amsterdam and married again on May 4, 1684 [see April 9, 1664 date] to Maria Verleth widow of Paulus Schreck. Willem resided in Albany (Schenectady) and was a trader. In 1684, he was a justice of the peace. In the records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Brooklyn, Willem Teller widower of Marrariet, married Maria Verleth, widow of Paulus Schrick on May 4, 1684.

From another source:

"I believe your interest is in our original Ancestry which is William Tuller. He came to Ft. Orange, New York from the Netherlands, Holland, when only 19 years old and took land offered by Hooland which makes him an original land owner, 1620. He became a Fur trader on the Hudson river and was a prominent man, later he was Master of the Ft. Orange which is now Albany NY. He married Margaret Donnelson. She later died and he married Marie Van Vlett. We are of the second wife. His son John born 1660 married Elizabeth Case. Joh's son Jacob born 1698 born in Simsbury, married Mary Moses, moved (William) from NY to Simsbury. Their son Elijah B. 1726 Simsbury married Sarah Case in 1733??? (an error) Elijah was a Rev Soldier. Their son Bela Moses married Lydia Holcomb, William Tuller came from the West Indies where he had served as a Corporal then to Ft. Orange where he served under Gov. Kieft.

There is a discrepancy in the dates between the 2 stories.  Also consider the sources are translations from the Dutch records.
